Privacy Policy

      The short version: you don't need an account to use Sideline, and we never sell your data. The schedule text you paste is processed temporarily to pull out your games and is never stored on our servers. If you choose to create an account, we store your email address and your team names — nothing more.
    

Who we are

Sideline is a sports scheduling tool for parents, operated by Sideline Studio Co. ("we," "us," or "our"). Our website is located at sidelinestudioco.com. You can contact us at hello@sidelinestudioco.com.

Information we do not collect

We do not:

Require you to create an account or provide personal information to use our tools
Store the schedule text you paste into our parser
Store game data, calendar exports, or tournament information you generate
Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
Use cookies for tracking or advertising
Build profiles of individual users

If you create an account

An account is optional — every parsing and export tool works without one. If you do create an account, we store your email address, a securely hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself), and the team names, sports, and home venues you save so your teams are there when you come back. We also keep a count of how many schedules you have exported, which is how the free tier is measured.

We do not store the schedules themselves, the games we extract from them, or any information about individual children. To delete your account and everything associated with it, email us at hello@sidelinestudioco.com and we will remove it within 30 days.

How our tools work

When you paste a schedule into our Schedule Parser, the text is sent to Anthropic's API (the AI service that powers our parser) to extract game dates, times, and locations. This text is processed in real time and is not stored by Sideline. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle API requests — you can read it at anthropic.com/privacy.

When you use our Tournament Tracker, the tournament URL you provide is fetched by our server and processed by the same AI service to find your team's schedule. Again, no data is stored by Sideline after your session ends.

Google Calendar integration

If you choose to sync your games to Google Calendar, you will be asked to authorize Sideline via Google's OAuth flow. We request only the minimum permission needed — the ability to create calendar events. We do not read your existing calendar events, contacts, or any other Google account data. Your Google authorization token is used only during your active session and is not stored by Sideline.

Calendar and ICS file exports

When you download a .ics calendar file, that file is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device. Nothing is transmitted to or stored on our servers during this process.

Automatically collected information

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically collects basic server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. This information is used solely for security and performance monitoring. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

We also keep our own simple count of page visits so we know which parts of the site people find useful. This uses no cookies and no third-party analytics service. For each visit we record the page, the referring site, and the country, along with a scrambled one-way code derived from your IP address and browser that changes every day. That code lets us count returning visits within a single day without ever storing your IP address, and it cannot be traced back to you.

Children's privacy

Sideline is designed for use by parents and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our tools may display the names of youth sports teams, but we do not collect or store any information about individual children.

Third-party tournament websites

Our Tournament Tracker fetches publicly available information from third-party tournament websites. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for the content or privacy practices of those websites. Use of those sites is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Payment processing

Payments for Sideline Pro are processed by Stripe. Sideline does not store credit card numbers or any sensitive payment information — all payment data is handled directly by Stripe and is subject to their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. We store only the identifiers Stripe gives us for your customer and subscription record, plus the email address and amount for each purchase, so that we can manage your subscription and provide support.

Data security

All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes, never as readable text. Because we deliberately store so little — no schedules, no game data, no payment details — there is very little to expose in the first place.

Your rights

If you use Sideline without an account, we hold no personal data tied to your identity, so there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have an account, you can ask us at any time for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, or to delete it entirely — email hello@sidelinestudioco.com and we will action the request within 30 days. Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Sideline after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
